In Turkey, two corn borers, European corn borer (Ostrinia nubilalis Hübn.) and pink stem borer (Sesamia nonagrioides Lef.) are primary species attacking maize (Zea mays L). Therefore, the most important objective of this work was to evaluate and find some inbred lines of maize which are resistance to European corn borer (Ostrinia nubilalis Hübn.) and Pink stem borer, (Sesamia nonagrioides Lef.) under second crop condition of Mediterranean region of Turkey. The experiment was carried out using forty-one inbred line according to randomized completely block design with three replications at research and implementation area of Cukurova Agricultural Research Institute, Adana, Turkey during three consecutive years 2000-2002. Twenty plants from each of the line with their leaf sheath were pulled off from the ground and data were recorded. Number of internodes per plant, number of hole per plant and number of holes per 100 internodes were counted from each of the 20 plants according to the method of Awadallah (1983). Number of holes per 100 internodes ranged from 23.42 to 96.81. Only those lines which have less than fifty holes per 100 internodes were considered as resistance lines. In conclusion, only eight inbred lines were resistant to both of European corn borer and Pink stem borer. These inbred lines could be used as a source of resistance to European corn borer and Pink stem borer in maize breeding program.
